Theodora Allen - 2015

Wildfire 2

American artist Theodora Allen (b. 1985) created restrained and at times unsettling paintings.

Inspired by music, literature, myth and nature, her work sits between the physical world and metaphysical.

The Los Angeles-based artist’s work echoes the heritage of William Blake, the Pre-Raphaelite, symbolists and 1960s counterculture.

There is a strong sense of personal symbolism in her work - that often like here references light sources and illumination from candles to the moon.

She has had solo shows at museums including Kunsthal Aarhus and Driehaus Museum and is in the Public Collections Dallas Museum of Art.
