Born in Croix-Lille in 1978, Laure Prouvost lives and works between Antwerp, Belgium and London, United Kingdom.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins (London, 2002) and a Master of Fine Arts fromGoldsmiths College (London, 2010), Laure Prouvost is one of the most recognised artists on the international contemporary scene. Laure Prouvost represented France at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019.
In 2020, Laure Prouvost has been invited to participate in the Biennale of Sydney, NIRIN curated by Brook Andrew. The French Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale was the subject of a touring exhibition at the Abattoirs de Toulouse and then at the LAM - Villeneuve d'Ascq. In 2021, she will have solo exhibitions at the KunsthalCharlottenborg in Copenhagen (Denmark) and in 2024 at the ACCA in Melbourne (Australia).
Laure Prouvost won the Turner Prize in 2013, the Max Mara Prize for Women in 2011, the Principle PrizeWinner, the 56th and 57th Oberhausen Short Film Festival in 2010 and 2011, and the EAST International Award in 2009. In 2016, she was awarded the insignia of Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite, followed in 2019 by Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
