Uri Aran - 2015

Untitled

Uri Aran (b. 1977) is a New York based artist whose work varies in media and subject matter, including film, sculpture, drawing, and assemblage.

What holds things together is a focus on language and meaning, unpicking graphic and linguistic systems.

“The discord of meaning in language is something I’m interested in”, he has explained. “I see things as mediated—almost everything is quoted.”

Aran’s narratives revolve around longing, identity, home, the everyday, sentimentality, and sadness, as well as dislocation and displacement.

His work has been exhibiting at South London Gallery, Walker Art Center and New York’s Jewish Museum.
