Originally from the USA, Francis Ruyter (b.1968) has been based in Vienna since 2003.

He is best known for vibrant paintings that draw on  the changing system of image technologies and authorship - from archive photography.

This new body of work sees a move in a fresh aesthetic direction. Canvas turned into wall sculptures fusing abstract painting and the canvas pushed into awkward and fascinating new directions.

Working with other artists has always been a high priority and an essential part of Ruyter’s artistic practice, through exhibition spaces, collaboration, mentorship, and teaching.
