Pierre Tal-Coat - 2023

Untitled

Pierre Tal-Coat (1905-1985) created painting, sculpture and printmaking alongside some of the greatest artists of the last century.

His notable friends included Georges Braque, Joan Mitchell, Alexander Calder, Alberto and Diego Giacometti, Balthus, Nicolas de Staël among many others.

The French artist, loaned here by Galerie Christophe Gaillard, was notably intertwined with the history of abstraction in its most lyrical form.

He exhibited at Documenta of Kassel I and II, the Venice Biennale, the Grand Palais in Paris and the International Biennale of Sao Paulo and is in collection from Royal Museums of Belgium to MoMA to Fondation Maeght.
