James White - 2018
British artist James White (b. 1967) created black and white deeply realistic paintings of everyday objects.
He works from photographs of his immediate environment at home, in bars or hotel rooms.
White echoes the tradition of still life painting using contemporary materials, cinematic narrative devices and images of consumer objects.
These things are removed from context, and charged with a sense of suspense and ambiguity.
Represented by Zader Galerie, White has had solo shows at Fondation Fernet-Branca, Galerie Greta Meert and The Goss-Michael Foundation and is in the collection of the Kistefos Museum and Saatchi collection.
