LUKE JAMES - 2021

Pie-Fer & Pie-Laiton (Birds) LES PIES

CO-WORKING SPACE

Born in 1990, in Dijon France. Lives and works currently in  Paris, France.

Sculptures, historical, political and social actions. His sculptures can be broken down as a series of sensitive, weighted gestures practised on performative materials, or Luke James's installations are always the result of an experience linked to a story (big or small), an anecdote from which he has selected extracts and materialswhile exploring their x dimension worked in a raw manner.

His work develops through pieces that function as indexical and fragmentary traces of the dissection of relationships between power relations and curiosity: Man, animals, architecture and social classes are some of the components of the interactions that the artist observes and questions on a daily basis. These reflectionsare nourished by an assiduous reading of American and European literature and philosophy, which depictpioneering attitudes and thoughts, offering a counterpoint to the prescriptions of modern Western society.

For him, the exhibition space becomes a territory to be conquered or inhabited, and he makes it his ownthrough gestures of construction and deconstruction.
