Charlotte Posenenske - 1961
Charlotte Posenenske (1930-1985) was a German artist best known for minimalist sculpture, referencing and reflecting systems and structure of mass production and industrialisation.
Working in series, her work combined modular elements of aluminum, steel or cardboard. She wrote, “The objects are not intended to represent anything other than what they are.” before stopping to work entirely in 1968 and retraining as a sociologist.
Posenenske also worked with paintings and works on paper as presented here, loosely sitting between abstraction and landscape.
Her work is in the collections of Mudam, Tate, MoMA and many other highly respected institutions.
