Born in Liaoning, China in 1971. Now lives and works in Beijing, China. 

The Chinese artist Zhong Sheng has created an entirely new form of artistic expression by blending traditional materials with contemporary ideas, breaking the boundaries of traditional lacquer craft. 

The interweaving of natural lacquer, ash, linen, metal powder, mother-of-pearl and turquoise materials creates a unique texture and light effect. 

This combination echoes the re-examination of contemporary art's materials and crafts, while demonstrating the potential and possibilities of lacquer in contemporary art.
