CO WORK SPACE
Born in 1995, Wellinghton, New zeeland. Lives and works in Paris, France.
Olivia Funes Lastra is a visual artist from Buenos Aires who graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Paris-Cergy in 2020.
She will continue her initial training with the post-master Programa de Artistas at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in 2021. Her work is transdisciplinary, combining installation, video, text and performance. She creates transitional spaces that mutate into playgrounds in which she explores possible analogies between language, memory and architecture. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in institutions and independent spaces such as the FRAC Picardie in 2022, DOC! in 2023, and the Institut Français in Madrid in 2024.
A set of textiles painted with words in several languages and colours come together like a patchwork. They spread out horizontally and take over the roof to create another ceiling inside the room. The installation attempts to give shape to a hybrid and fragmented language, made up of an overlap of other languages and words of diverse origins.
