Berlin-based artist Matthias Bitzer (b. 1975) combines drawing, painting and sculpture into an experiential practice exploringhistory and identity.

His works have become increasingly multi-layered over the years while maintaining their focus on the construction of memory and the reconstruction of reality. 

His sources of inspiration range from historical personalities and references from Euclidean geometry to Emily Dickinson.

Showing in Brussels with Almine Rech, Bitzer has exhibited internationally and is in the collections of LACMA and MARTaHerford.
