Christine Safa is a graduate of the Écolenationale supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris.

In 2021 she took part in a group exhibition at the Lévy Gorvy gallery in Paris. The same year she had her first solo exhibition at the Praz Delavallade gallery in Paris. In 2022 she had a solo exhibition at the ICA in Milan (Italy) and took part in a group exhibition at the Pernod Ricard Foundation curated by Anaël Pigeat and Sophie Vigourous. In 2023, the Frac Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand will be devoting a solo exhibition to his work.

These are moments and places charged with emotion that memory has retained. Faces and mountains intertwined. Silhouettes and horizons. In the light of a moment frozen in memory. Figures in the landscape, reduced to the essential but vibrant. A warm palette that confesses its Mediterranean origins. What it is to be there, simply but fully, is what these sober, powerful paintings say with obvious empathy.

"I see my paintings as tributes, fragments of memories, what remains. It is what remains that I paint. As I paint, I create the outline, the shape of ruins of memories that welcome and undergo time; which for me means my experience of these interior landscapes. The figures appear, fade away, become a layer of paint. The colour becomes saturated or lets the light shine through. A discernment of emotional states, dictated by the quest for a familiar light".
