Meet Jean-Christophe Rufin: Doctor, writer and diplomat

Discover the journey of Jean-Christophe Rufin, from a medical career and diplomatic roles, to becoming a member of the Académie Française.

We have the honour of welcoming Jean-Christophe Rufin, one of the great French intellectuals and a member of the Académie Française, for a conversation about his humanitarian, political, and literary commitments. Former Vice-President of Médecins Sans Frontières, he pursued a career in diplomacy before turning to literature, shaping his novels with his experiences and encounters.

A fervent advocate of literature and a passionate defender of the novel, Jean-Christophe Rufin will share with us how his journey led him to write stories "through the simple magic of a pen and a free conscience" to reflect the world and transform it.

Don’t miss this chance to meet Jean-Christophe Rufin, a man whose life is marked by passion, intellectual curiosity and a deep commitment.

The conversation will be followed by a book signing of “D'or et de jungle" and of "Sur le fleuve Amazone: carnet de voyage" (Calmann-Lévy, 2024). A sale organised by UOPC bookshop.
