speaker

Katrien De Vusser

Prof. Dr. Katrien De Vusser is a nephrologist at the University Hospital Leuven and a faculty member at KU Leuven. Her research focuses on critical areas such as aging, telomere length—an important marker of biological age—epigenetics, and lupus. In her doctoral research, titled “Aging is a Curable Disease,” Katrien explored innovative approaches to health and longevity. A year ago, she founded Thrive85 Clinic after completing advanced training in preventive medicine at the Cleveland Clinic and a course on nutrition at Harvard Medical School. These experiences have profoundly shaped her philosophy on health and aging, which she now integrates into her practice. Health is also a cornerstone of Katrien’s family life. Together with her husband, Bart, and their three children, she embraces a lifestyle centered on nutritious eating and active living. After analyzing her own health profile, she designed a daily regimen that includes a well-balanced diet, targeted supplements, brief strength-training sessions, and invigorating ice baths. Katrien draws inspiration from her 92-year-old grandmother, who still practices yoga twice a week—a living testament to the principles of active and healthy aging she passionately advocates.
