Claude Wesel (1942–2014) studied at Maredsous Abbey School and Brussels' La Cambre visual arts school, becoming one of the key figures in contemporary Belgian jewellery. Known for his biomechanical style, his work evokes personal and collective memories, forging an emotional connection between the wearer and the piece. Wesel’s creations will be featured in an exhibition at Sotheby’s, running from April 3 until April 25.
In this exclusive masterclass, Laure Dorchy, an expert in antique jewellery and goldsmithing at Antenor Auction, offers a rare opportunity to explore the depth of Wesel’s artistic vision. Laure’s extensive background in the history of jewellery, combined with her practical expertise, will guide participants through the finer details of Wesel's creations. You'll gain insight into his unique approach to materials, design, and the emotional power embedded in his work. By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a profound understanding of the artist’s universe and the lasting impact of his jewellery.
